Statement of Purpose

Vision
The vision of Harvest Church includes ministry to many groups of people--the poor, widows, orphans, strangers, families, and those of other cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Our desire is to become a multi-racial community church, affecting all elements of our society.

Our vision is to serve the needs of the local community in practical ways. In the adult education classes, individuals will be enabled to further their education and improve job skills. When individuals are equipped and trained, families are strengthened, and the community as a whole benefits.

Our church will be a training center where Christians from other countries, as well as our own, can be equipped and sent out to spread the gospel of the kingdom of God to their communities and to the nations. We support both home and foreign missions.

Through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, individuals' gifts and callings can be identified, and our vision is to train, equip and activate Christians to accomplish God's purpose through their lives.

Just as we see in scripture, the majority of the church's ministry today should occur out in the "marketplace." Our vision is to assist business people (those working at any job, business owners, or entrepreneurs) to identify their calling and gifts and train them so that they can fulfill their God-given ministry.

One component of the vision is unity--unity among the local church body, and unity among other Christians. We feel that we are one of many parts of the Body of Christ and we are excited to be able to participate in the wonderful things that God is doing through His people in the earth today.

Harvest Church is committed to serving Jesus Christ and people, to prayer, and to building strong family relationships. We also emphasize praise and worship and applying the word of God in daily life.
Loving God and People
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your: heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Matthew 22:36-39
Mission Statement
The spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of the vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion. ...They will be called oaks of righteousness.
Isaiah 61:1-3
Evangelism
When He (Jesus) saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
Matthew 9:35-38
Training
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Matthew 28:19-20

It was he (Jesus) who have some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-13
Restoration
Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently.
Galatians 6:1

A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out.
Isaiah 42:3
God's Spirit Poured Out
We are living in exciting but awesome times as we see God's spirit poured out in ways like never before.
Joel 2:28-32 and Acts 2:16-21

The Spirit of God is moving in very non-traditional ways and bringing life to people and places that many thought were utterly hopeless.
Isaiah-43:18-19

God's people are returning to Him in large numbers and are being restored and refreshed by a loving Father.
Isaiah 55:6-7 and Acts 3:19

As a result of their experiencing God's unconditional love,' healing, and restoration, Christians are returning to their first love, Jesus Christ. This return is causing Christians to reach out to family, friends, and the world through love and acceptance to bring them to Jesus.
Revelation 2:4, Acts 2:42-47, and John 1:45

We want to encourage you to love a merciful and loving God with all your ability, love others the way you love yourself, and be a part of the wonderful things God is doing in the world.
